Western Georgia's green heart. Imereti, on the Rioni, is warmer and far wetter than Kakheti across the mountains, and its wine tradition runs a little differently: qvevri here are often buried out in the open, and the amber wines are made with a lighter touch of skins than the east's. Tsolikouri and Tsitska are its white mainstays, Krakhuna its richer white, and the three come together in the blend of Sviri.
