A modern Armenian red for a country at the cradle of wine. Haghtanak — « victory » — is a dark-skinned crossing bred in the mid-20th century, giving deeply coloured, warm reds of black fruit and spice on the hot Ararat plain and the volcanic slopes around it. Alongside the ancient Areni, it carries the red half of Armenia's revival.
