Under the jagged limestone teeth of the Dentelles de Montmirail, Gigondas makes a Grenache-based red every bit as serious as Châteauneuf-du-Pape, and often better value — fuller, firmer and cooler for its higher, hillside vineyards. Black cherry, garrigue herbs and warm southern spice fill the glass, framed by real structure.

Long sold off as anonymous Côtes du Rhône, Gigondas won its own appellation in 1971 and has never looked back. It is the southern Rhône's great hillside red — powerful, warming and built to age.
